How a Solana payment QR works

Solana uses the Solana Pay transfer request format:

solana:7GcW…h2Lq?amount=1.5&label=Corner%20Cafe&message=Thanks

The recipient must be a regular wallet address (a system account), not a token account. The amount is in SOL, not lamports, written as a plain decimal with up to 9 places and no scientific notation. A number below 1 needs its leading zero, like 0.5. If you leave the amount out, the wallet asks the payer to enter it.

Solana addresses have no built-in checksum, so CryptoQR Maker checks that the address decodes to a valid 32-byte public key. Compare the first and last characters by eye as well.

Questions

Is this the same as Solana Pay?

Yes, it creates a Solana Pay transfer request link for native SOL, with optional label and message.

Can I request USDC on Solana?

Solana Pay supports tokens through an spl-token parameter, but this generator sticks to native SOL. For a USDC address card, use TokenQR.

How many decimals can I use?

Up to 9, because 1 SOL is 1,000,000,000 lamports. The tool rejects anything more precise, as the spec requires.

Which wallets scan Solana Pay codes?

Popular Solana wallets such as Phantom and Solflare scan them. If a wallet only reads plain addresses, switch to Address only.
