CryptoQR Maker

Ethereum QR code generator

Type the amount in ETH and CryptoQR Maker writes the exact wei value and chain ID into an EIP-681 link, then checks your address's EIP-55 checksum.

How an Ethereum payment QR works

Ethereum links follow EIP-681. A native ETH request looks like this:

ethereum:0x5aAe…BeAed@1?value=15000000000000000

The number after @ is the chain ID (1 is Ethereum mainnet), and value is the amount in wei. 0.015 ETH is 15,000,000,000,000,000 wei. Getting this conversion wrong by one zero is easy by hand; the generator does it exactly.

Wallets agree on the address part of EIP-681, but support for the amount and chain ID varies. When the network matters, also write it next to the code. For USDT or USDC tokens, use our sister site TokenQR.

Questions

Why is the amount in wei?

EIP-681 requires the smallest unit, so there are no decimals in the link. 1 ETH = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 wei. Enter ETH and the tool converts it exactly.

What is the mixed-case address check?

EIP-55 encodes a checksum in the capitalization of the address. If any capital is wrong, the address has a typo. All-lowercase addresses are valid but carry no checksum.

Can I request ERC-20 tokens like USDC?

EIP-681 can describe token transfers, but wallet support is patchy and a mistake costs real money. For tokens we recommend a plain address with the network printed on the card, which is exactly what TokenQR makes.

Should I use Address only for exchanges?

Some exchange withdrawal screens expect a bare 0x address. If one rejects the link, switch QR contents to Address only.
